Modula4 Celebrates its 10th Anniversary!

Modula4 is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Founded in 2004 to create customized digital assets management (DAM) solutions, Modula4 has grown over the past 10 years to become one of the leading providers of custom DAM solutions worldwide. Modula4 serves over 100 clients through offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Berlin, Germany. More than 400 customers have used their products and services which are available directly from Modula4 and though its global network of over 20 reseller partners.

“The growth of Modula4 over the past 10 years has been truly remarkable” says Modula4 CTO and co-founder Michael Gellner. “From its earliest days our focus has been creating custom solutions and providing excellent customer service. This proved to be a winning combination.”

In addition to building solutions using third-party software from partners such as Canto, Picturepark, WoodWing, 2imagine and Adobe, Modula4 has been a leader in producing products that add innovative features to DAM systems. These products include Web Module, a flexible and highly customizable web interface, Video Module which enables video transcoding and streaming previews, ImageSearch and ImageSorter, tools that lets users find assets by their visual content and the S3 Add-on, an integration with the Amazon cloud that puts high resolution assets managed by a DAM close to the people who need them.

Services offered by Modula4 include needs assessment, system planning, installation, configuration, training and support. Modula4 also has one of the largest engineering teams specifically dedicated to creating customized DAM solutions.

“Over the years Modula4 has hired and developed a highly skilled staff” says Jon Hornstein, CEO of Modula4. “Our engineers, consultants and solution specialists are really the heart of the organization. What they all have in common is a dedication to understanding our clients’ needs and delivering solutions to meets those needs.”

Picturepark Launches DAM Educational Initiative

Modula4 partner Picturepark is launching a new digital asset management educational initiative. Using the hash tag #LearnDAM the initiative is intended to make it easier to find useful, unbiased information on DAM products and practices. By searching Google, Twitter or other social networks for the unique #LearnDAM hashtag, DAM professionals can now more easily spot and re-share materials assumed to be focused on digital asset management education and not commercial agendas.

“Google doesn’t always get it right when it comes to filtering out nonsense,” said Picturepark global marketing director, David Diamond, who won the 2013 “DAMMY of the Year” for his educational contributions to the DAM industry. “DAM vendors and others with established websites typically rank higher in search results, even when the content they offer isn’t the best. We’re hoping #LearnDAM helps level the playing field so those who want to find these materials can find them.”

Picturepark has several new DAM educational initiatives planned for 2014. The company has already created several DAM education programs including DAM Guru, the “Learn DAM” website resources and as well as offering copies of David Diamond’s ebook “DAM Survival Guide” at no cost, all of which provide guidance that is unbiased and non-vendor specific.
