Jon Hornstein – President
Jon is responsible for sales, marketing, operations, and generally making sure that clients are happy and the staff is well supported. Jon brings more than 20 years experience with digital asset management (DAM) and publishing production systems as a vendor, consultant, and customer.
Jon served as the founding Director of Technical Services at Canto. He most recently served as the Director of NASA Images at the Internet Archive. There, in cooperation with NASA, he led a group that created the largest repository of NASA media available from a single site. Previously Jon was General Manager of Erickson Productions and Vice President of Strategy of iXL’s Digital Media Solutions Group. Earlier in his career Jon was Photo Editor at US News & World Report and Production Manager at MacWeek magazine.
Jon holds a BA in International Relations from San Francisco State University and an MA in International Affairs from The Elliot School at The George Washington University.
Michael Gellner – CTO/Co-Founder
Michael is responsible for overseeing Modula4’s development of products and customizations, as well as leading our German office. He has successfully advised and supported clients worldwide in hundreds of DAM-related projects.
With over 20 years of experience, his extensive knowledge and expertise allows him to offer each client a solution that optimize their workflows and maximize their business potential.
What sets Michael apart is his talent for understanding each client’s specific requirements. His focus is on developing tailor-made solutions, from simple systems for small teams to comprehensive workflows for very large businesses and other organization. Michael is a recognized expert in his field, with a long record of successfully guiding clients through
their digital transformation.
Michael holds a degree in International Media & Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences and Economics in Berlin.
Markus Bohunovsky – Co-Founder
Markus Bohunovsky studied computer science at the Technische Universitaet Wien (technical university of Vienna, Austria). After moving to the United States he worked with various non-profit organizations in the area of desktop publishing and computer design. In 1998 he started at Canto Software as the Manager of their US Technical Support division. He later took over the role of Product Manager for a short time and eventually became Canto’s Director of Technical Services. After 6 years with Canto, Markus left Canto to found Modula4 with Michael Gellner.
At the end of 2010 Markus retired from the position as CEO and continues to advise the company as a member of its board and as a consultant.
Larry Bosworth – Support Manager
A native to Northern California, Larry continues to live, with his wife, in the part of the world he was born. He describes San Francisco as a wonderful place to work, but not what keeps him coming back day after day. He enjoys the challenge of working with customers and figuring out their workflow and creating a Digital Asset Management solution that caters to their needs.
Larry is also passionate about photography; which helps the transition of setting up a workflow execution. Larry specializes in Cumulus Enterprise and Workgroup upgrades and new installations. With over 6 years of Cumulus knowledge, Larry also enjoys training end-users to get the most out of their Cumulus products. Larry has a degree in Computer Science and English.
Natalia Lewin Burau – Office Manager
Natalia works currently as Office Manager in our Berlin Office. Coming from Colombia, Natalia holds a M.A in Sociology, Communication and Political Science from the University of Basel and Freiburg am Breisgau. Her work experience in the field of Sustainability, Innovation and Design Thinking have shaped her deep interest in issues related to Human Resources Management and Organizational Development.
At Modula4, her field of activity includes administrative and communicative tasks as well as the management of the content of the German web site.
Jordi Hernandez – Software Engineer
Jordi became the first employee in the Berlin office in 2006. He studied business studies and computer science in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and gained first experiences in the range of software engineering during his employment at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
At Modula4, his field of activity is the customer-oriented development of DAM customizations and plug-ins as well as the development and improvement of Modula4 products. Isaiah Hornstein – Sales Assistant
Born and raised in Northern California Isaiah began his working life in the medical field, first attending City College of San Francisco where he studied emergency medicine. Upon graduation Isaiah became a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and shortly after decided to join the U.S. Army as a healthcare specialist. After getting out of the military Isaiah decided to switch career paths and join Modula4 as a Sales Assistant.
In his spare time Isaiah enjoys learning about geopolitics and history.
Norbert Kerner – Senior Consultant
Norbert Kerner joined Modula4 in 2022 having years of experience in the DAM industry. He worked for Canto as well as Pixelboxx and thus has a deep understanding of the corresponding DAM systems. His expertise is used to provide customers with tailored DAM solutions to meet their needs and especially help them transition from Cumulus or Pixelboxx to new DAM systems.
Norbert holds a Master of Science in Business Studies from the University of Kassel.
In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, watching his favorite soccer team Liverpool Football Club and traveling the world whenever possible
Jason Lewis – Solution Specialist
After living and working in various locations throughout the US, Jason has returned to his roots in the San Francisco Bay Area. Graduating with a degree in Graphic Communications and working in the print and design industry for a number of years, Jason eventually migrated to the technical side of business. Since 1996 he has spent his time in network administration, IT consulting and most recently web development. With his varied background, Jason enjoys discovering customer needs and helping to provide technical solutions to meet those needs.
Ines Mullins – Web Design and UX
Born in Berlin Ines finished her training as a programmer in Frankfurt am Main and worked as software developer for shipping companies. Back in Berlin, she joined the modula4 Team in 2011. After an initial phase of working in office management and support she is now responsible for frontend development, with the main focus on web design and UX.
Ines makes sure that your Modula4 web applications look good, conform with your CD and are intuitive and easy to use.
Besides her job, she loves to work on art and web design projects.
Anastasiya Eysmont Pronyuk – Front-End Developer (Student Intern)
Anastasiya began her professional journey as a student intern at Modula4, where she took on Front-End Developer responsibilities. This role provided her with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing her to collaborate with a team to develop web pages in a real-world setting.
Initially, Anastasiya pursued studies in German philology and Romance languages at Santiago de Compostela. However, she eventually shifted her focus to web development. Currently, she balances her master’s studies with her work at Modula4.
In her free time, Anastasiya enjoys exploring nature and the endless leisure possibilities Berlin has to offer.
Fritz-Ullrich Schneider – Software Engineer
Ulli is one of the software developers in our German office in Berlin. He left his native Saxony in 1999 and came to Berlin for job-related reasons. He made his first attempts at programming with old school data processing machines most of the Modula4 members only know from books or hearsay.
Ulli joined the Modula4 team in November 2006. His main area of responsibility was the adaptation of the web interfaces to the wishes of our customers. For several years now, he has been assisting customers with questions, suggestions and solving problems related to their DAM systems.
Ute Vock – Front-End Developer
Ute is a Berlin native and holds a master’s degree in English, American and Celtic Studies. After graduation, she worked in administration before joining Modula4 in 2008 starting out as Office Manager. Increasingly, however, she also took on tasks in the area of web development and became a permanent fixture in the company. Recently, she has handed over all administrative work to our new Office Manager and now works exclusively as Frontend Developer.
Ute enjoys the varied cultural offerings in her hometown just as much as the impressive natural beauty of the Berlin surroundings.
